I have great regard for Chavez's desire to improve the lot of poor Venezuelans, and I don't doubt that he was genuinely elected and is genuinely popular. But his 'Bolivarian Revolution' is going to end up on the same scrap heap as the Soviet Union.

It's wrong notion that socialism is being 'imposed from above' in Venezuela. It's far from reality. Venezuelans have been organizing themselves in neighborhoods, cooperatives, unions, and other forms since before Chavez was elected.
Venezuelan people want to learn more and more about socialism and Chavez is going ahead in that direction. God luck to him.
